Product Description

Master Bond UV15X-2GT is a one component UV curable glob top, featuring easy handling and very fast curing. It is a thixotropic paste with reasonable flow that dispenses readily from a syringe. It bonds well to a wide variety of substrates. Upon curing after exposure to UV light it will provide excellent protection to components and chips on circuit boards. It does so by forming a seal against moisture and many chemicals. It provides a physical barrier as well. UV15X-2GT has inherent toughness and will resist thermal cycling, and mechanical and thermal shocks. It is also a superb thermal and electrical insulator. Some other desirable attributes are a service temperature range of -80°F to 300°F. After curing, its color can best be described as translucent.

The most attractive feature of UV15X-2GT is its easy handling and rapid curing. It will fully cure upon exposure to UV light at 365 nm in thicknesses up to 1/4 inch. The intensity of light sources can vary but at 200 watts/inch, cure times ranging from 20 to 30 seconds up to a couple of minutes are not unreasonable. The cure time depends upon the thickness of the layer being cured as well as the intensity of the light source.

UV15X-2GT is not oxygen inhibited. It does not release any solvents or volatiles while curing. Another compelling characteristic is its very low shrinkage upon cure. It should be noted that UV15X-2GT does not have a secondary cure mechanism and will not cure in areas shadowed out from UV light. Its rapid polymerization upon UV light exposure along with its properties after curing allows UV15X-2GT to be viable especially in prototyping, repair and assembly for aerospace, optics and electro-optics.
