Product Description

Master Bond Polymer System EP42HT-2Med Black is a two component epoxy featuring convenient handling along with resistance to different types of repeated sterilization cycles. It has an easy to use 100 to 40 mix ratio by weight or 100 to 50 by volume. Some other features include good flow properties with moderate viscosity along with a long working life. It cures readily at ambient temperatures or more rapidly with heat. A number of cure schedule options are mentioned in the chart below, with the optimum being overnight at room temperature followed by 2-4 hours at 150-250°F. This sytem contains no solvents and has very low shrinkage upon curing.

EP42HT-2Med Black is an excellent adhesive and bonds well to a wide variety of substrates including metals, composites, ceramics, glass, as well as plastics and rubbers. It is highly resistant to acids, bases, solvents, and numerous sterilants. It is a top notch electrical and thermal insulator. Since it is a lower exothermic system, it can be used for encapsulation applications up to 3 inches deep. EP42HT-2Med Black is a higher Tg system with a service temperature range of -60°F to 450°F. The color of Part A is black and Part B is amber clear. After curing, it blocks light very well. This is a “go to” type system for medical device manufacturing, especially for endoscopes, surgical instruments, and other devices that receive repeated sterilization.
