Product Description

Master Bond UV18Med-2 is a medical grade UV system for bonding, featuring good strength, toughness, and chemical resistance. It cures readily in 20-30 seconds when exposed to a UV light source emitting at a wavelength of 320-365 nm, with an energy output as low as 20-40 milliwatts per cm². The rate of cure depends upon the distance of the light source, its intensity, and the thickness of the section being cured. UV18Med-2 can cure in sections up to 0.080-0.125 inches. When bonding, no more than a few thousandths of an inch are needed. It contains no solvents or diluents. The system offers versatile functionality, serving effectively as both an adhesive and a coating. When utilized as a coating, thicknesses up to 1/8 of an inch are feasible.

The system bonds well to a wide variety of substrates including glass, surface treated metals and plastics, such as polycarbonates and acrylics. It offers very good temperature and chemical resistance, as outlined in the chart below. Its service temperature range is -60°F to +250°F. The color is clear to light amber. UV18Med-2 is an outstanding electrical insulator. Ideal for high production applications where fast fixture times and rapid curing are critical, UV18Med-2 is used in medical applications where biocompatibility as per ISO 10993-5 is needed.
