FAR 25.853(a) for Flame Retardancy

Product Description

Master Bond EP90FR-H is a two component flame retardant epoxy system for bonding, sealing, coating and potting. It has been tested to the standards mentioned above and passes the difficult horizontal burn test specification. This moderate viscosity system has excellent strength properties and can be considered for use in specialized applications especially in aircraft and related assemblies. Some potential uses include baggage equipment areas, aircraft windows and lighting assemblies, among others. Additionally, it should be noted that EP90FR-H is a non-halogenated type system, which is highly desirable for handling and environmental issues.

EP90FR-H has an easy to use, forgiving, two to one mix ratio by weight. This system has a moderately long open time with the recommended curing for optimizing properties being overnight at room temperature followed by 2-3 hours at 150-200°F. It is a very good electrical insulator, and can be used in electronics for bonding, sealing and coating. It bonds well to a variety of substrates including metals, composites, glass, ceramic and many plastics. The system is color coded; Part A is gray, Part B is white and when mixed it becomes a noticeably lighter gray. It has good chemical resistance to water, fuels and oils. The service temperature range is -60°F to +250°F. EP90FR-H is a specialty product primarily for aviation and avionic applications where the arduous prerequisites of the horizontal burn test are specified.
