Product Description

Master Bond MB297Med-2 is a single component ethyl cyanoacrylate type adhesive. This high strength, fast curing system is used primarily for medical device assembly. MB297Med-2 is a low viscosity (100-110 cps) system. A cyanoacrylate, which is often referred to as an instant adhesive or super glue, cures very rapidly with the rate of cure dependent upon the humidity—the higher it is, the faster the cure. MB297Med typically sets up within 10-40 seconds. A full cure is 12-24 hours. This high strength system requires no heating or mixing. Because curing is normally so fast, minimal contact pressure is usually sufficient for bonding. The bond strength is exceptionally high in the shear mode.

MB297Med-2 bonds well to a variety of substrates especially metals, plastics and rubbers. The service temperature range is -60°F to +250°F. Master Bond MB297Med-2 meets the USP Class VI specification for medical devices. It also passes ISO 10993-5. It should be noted for this test, best results were obtained when used in conjunction with Master Bond’s cyano accelerator. MB297Med-2 can be used in a wide array of different medical applications ranging from repair to high speed production. It has excellent resistance to EtO and gamma sterilization processes. Although many of the applications for this system involve disposable medical devices, it also can be utilized with reusable ones depending upon the service conditions. Specific applications may include medical wearables, catheter assemblies, syringes, connectors, endoscopes, diagnostic equipment, among many others.
