Product Description

Master Bond MB297Med-3 is a single component ethyl cyanoacrylate type adhesive. This high strength, rapid curing system is used primarily for medical device assembly. MB297Med-3 is a very low viscosity (10-20 cps) cyanoacrylate. This kind of system, which is commonly referred to as an instant adhesive or super glue, cures very rapidly with the rate of cure dependent upon the humidity—the higher it is, the faster the cure. Because curing is normally so fast, minimal contact pressure is usually sufficient for bonding. It must be emphasized that this high strength system requires no heating or mixing. It typically sets up within 5 to 35-40 seconds depending upon the humidity and the substrates. The bond strength is exceptionally high in the shear mode. MB297Med-3 bonds well to a variety of substrates especially metals, plastics and rubbers. The service temperature range for this system is -60°F to +250°F. Most importantly, MB297Med-3 meets USP Class VI specifications for biocompatibility. MB297Med-3 can be used in a wide array of different medical applications ranging from repair to high speed production. It has first rate resistance to EtO and gamma sterilization processes. Although many of the applications for MB297Med-3 involve disposable type medical devices, it also can be utilized with reusable ones depending upon the service conditions.
